Clay Heigthen et Debra Caudy ont été totalement charmés par l’environnement entouré de montagnes enneigées. La beauté de la région nord-américaine de Jackson Hole, découverte par le couple lors d’un voyage d’affaires, leur donna envie d’y installer leur maison de vacances. Et quelle maison ! Accompagnés par l’architecte Larry Pearson de Pearson Design, ils ont érigé une demeure que nous jalousons avec vigueur.
Le couple vit la plupart du temps à Dallas avec un de leurs fils, mais ils ont été conquis par Jackson Hole. Ils ont désiré profiter d’une vue sans pareil sur les collines enneigées pour leurs vacances et se lancer dans un travail de construction plutôt que d’acheter une demeure déjà en place. C’est alors que 16 mois de travaux débutèrent.

Le résultat, pour la modique somme de 4 millions de dollars, est « tout ce qu’ils voulaient » et même un peu plus encore. L’orientation leur permet de savourer pleinement la vue sur les environs. L’extérieur est accessible à tout moment et il a fallu jouer avec les températures extrêmes. Lors des jours de blizzard, des portes coulissantes entourent la demeure. Et, pour profiter de l’extérieur lorsqu’il fait particulièrement froid, une cheminée et des couvertures sont là pour les réchauffer.

La décoration intérieure est tout simplement splendide. Réalisée avec beaucoup de goût, elle allie un esprit chalet à de la modernité. Les belles matières s’entremêlent : bois, béton, pierre. Le mobilier a été réalisé en grande partie sur mesure, et met en valeur les formes organiques des troncs d’arbres.
